Working knowledge of hardware, software, and programming language: C++, MySQL, and Python. Currently completing courses which will contribute to earning a bachelors for a double major of Psychology and Computer Science. Exceptional with web development, public speaking, facilitation, curriculum development, and presentation skills, which are all fun and creative outlets that also help me convey messages of social change in effective ways.

Adapting to new situations and effective communication leads to being great with working in and leading groups to overcome challenges and accomplish goals.

After Year Up training, I want to work at a non-profit and apply technical skills, or work at a high tech company and give back and better the community.

Foster youth are less likely to succeed. These kids don’t have families, but they have Silicon Valley Children's Fund, a community of resources and innovation. They can change these outcomes. Foster youth deserve as much success in life as other young people their age.

Silicon Valley Children’s Fund invests in high impact programs that help the foster youth of Santa Clara County become successful and self-sustaining adults.

I am proud to represent SVCF in Year Up Silicon Valley's class of 2015. I hope that the path I pave will be followed by many other foster youth in the years to come.

Networking is vital. I spend much of my time expanding my network. It's great to get to know other people professionally and personally. As an ambassador, I get the opportunity to meet and connect with guest speakers, donors, and volunteers - the great supporters of Year Up. I like to take this role a step further and connect with community partners, such as The HUB and Silicon Valley Children's Fund. Bringing more awareness of Year Up is a huge goal of mine.

Let's close this opportunity divide, one story at a time.

I have a passion for helping people succeed. I was a tutor over the summer for a STEM program, and that's passed over to my time in Year Up. I'm very open to helping others and answering questions. I set time after school to help support, tutor, and coach my colleagues through assignments, deliverables, and large projects.

I have an end goal in life to give back to the community. I like to pay it forward by helping at Sunnyvale Community Services. I volunteer whenever I'm free. There, I prepare bags of food to give away to the homeless and the less fortunate. I also help prepare backpacks and presents for seasonal events, such as back-to-school week and Christmas. I also spend time decorating the center for events.

I love to learn. The LAMP Stack Elective allows me to expand my knowledge on: Linux, Apache, MySQL, Python, HTML, Project Management, and Command Line. I can run my own server!

I am proud of my background, where I've come from, and what my life has become. I like to speak to others about the hardships of foster care, and how anybody can succeed if they have the right mindset. I train social workers and other childwelfare professionals, but I also speak at events. I enjoy spreading awareness of foster care and the opportunity divide. I'm often invited to speak at events and present awards, and I love it.

Stay humble, stay hopeful.
